The G7a was a steam driven torpedo used by the Kriegsmarine during the early years of world war 2.
It had a warhead of 280 kilograms (617pds) of hexanite which was quite sufficient at destroying surface ships.
It had a typical range of about 7,500 metres (24,600 ft) while running at 40 knots (74 km/h; 46 mph).
